John was the son of Daniel B. and Sarah "Sallie" Glover Grigsby. He married Ella Whitley 20 April 1897 in Anderson Co, TX. She died 17 March 1926 and is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth. Their daughter, Nannie Boone Grigsby Slaughter, is buried in Parkdale Cemetery in Arlington, TX. John died at his home in Elkhart.

J. C. Grigsby, 72, died Wednesday at 10 p.m. at his home in Elkhart.

Funeral will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Elkhart Methodist Church with Rev. E. C. Barrow officiating. Burial will be in Elkhart cemetery.

Mr. Grigsby is survived by his two daughters, Mrs. Eureta Wood, Ft. Worth, and Mrs. Nannie B. Slaughter, Arlington; a brother, Pugh Grigsby, Elkhart; two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Hemby, Elkhart; and Mrs. Gertie Robertson, Slaton; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
