John was born on July 13, 1931 in Hawthorne, NJ to the late Charles Devine and Edith Van Kirk Jamieson one of four children. His father, Charles was a major league baseball player for eighteen years, notably as the All-Time Cleveland Indians Left Fielder. John's favorite past time was participating in and as a spectator of sports.
John also was Pop Pop to eight grandchildren whom he dearly loved,: Jessica Hall (Sam) Lancaster, John and Katie McKay, Meredith and Jamieson Clark, Hannah Ogg, Owen Ploof, and Hailey Hortis. His brother, Charles, and sisters Ethel and Jean predeceased him.
John was in the Army and served his country proudly as an X-ray Technician in a MASH Unit during the Korean conflict. He was a graduate of Hawthorne High School Class of '49, and Rutgers University, Class of '58, and worked many years as a Professional Engineer in the field of Civil Engineering and computer technology. He and Joan shared many joyous years together singing in church choirs. John never met a stranger, was a quick wit, loved to laugh and enjoy life. John was member of the Ballenger Duncan Sunday School Class, Chancel Choir and United Methodist Men.
