Athol Reed Sayre
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, in Hillsboro First Baptist Church for Athol Reed Sayre, who died Jan. 18 at age 85.
Mr. Sayre was born Aug. 19, 1915, in Dixie, Idaho. He graduated from the College of Idaho and received a master's degree from the University of Idaho. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a school administrator for the Idaho towns of Wilder, Marsing and Parma, then in Oregon in Adrian, Elgin and Riddle, where he retired in the late 1970s. He moved to Hillsboro in the early 1980s and was a member of the church. In 1939 he married Caroline Henderson.
Survivors include his wife Caroline; sons, Steve, Fred, Lewis and Casey; daughter, Leah Bagley; sister Reba Zaharie; and 15 grandchildren.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to Albertson College of Idaho, 2112 Cleveland Blvd., Caldwell, ID 83605. Arrangements are by Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home.
