He served 20 years and following his discharge in 1959 lived in Houston several years before returning to Rockdale. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and had been living in Rockdale for the past 3 months.
SURVIVORS: Son, John A. Garner, III, of New York; 2 daughters, Emily Garner and Brenda Garner, both of New York; brother, Millard Garner of Houston; sister, Mrs. Chas. S. (Doris) Dockall of Rockdale; a grandchild.
