Elnor Bishop Titensor, 90, died Saturday Mar 4, 2000, at the Star Valley Care Center in Afton with her daughter Julie at her side.
Funeral services were held Mar 8, 2000 at the Bedford Chapel with Bishop Bruce robinson officiating. Burial was in the Bedford Cemetery beside her beloved husband Roscoe.
Elnor was born Apr 7, 1909 in Hinckley UT to Daniel earl and Maude Langston Bishop. She was the oldest living child in a family of two boys and three girls. She loved her school years in Hinckley and was chosen valedictorian of her eighth grade class. While in high school, she became acquainted with Roscoe Titensor who was teaching at the school. She graduated as salutatorian of her class and was a four-year seminary graduate. She attended one semester at BYU.
She married Roscoe Titensor Mar 28, 1928 in the Logan Temple. They lived most of their maried life in Bedford where they raised their seven children. They left Star Valley for seven years when Roscoe took a teaching job in Lasal, UT. They loved the friends they met there and enjoyed exploring the red rock country around the Moab area. Elnor assisted in the music program of the school and taught a thir grade class one year.
Elnor was head cook in the school lunch program in Bedford and then at the Holdaway Elementary in Thayne. She retired at the age of 66.
She lived frugally and wisely, constructing clothes on her Singer treadle sewing machine, grinding grain for her good homemade bread and cereal and making lye soap to have a sparkling white wash. They raised pigs, cows and chickens for milk, meat and eggs. She loved working in the garden, planting, weeding, harvesting and then canning the produce. Without going to the store, she could quickly prepare nutritious, well balanced meals for her children or visitors by using the supplies in her cellar and freezer.
Elnor was a faithful, active member of the LDS Church and served as a teacher, music director and in administrative positions throughout her life. She served as the Star Valley Stake Primary President and on the stake MIA board and was the Relief Society president in Lasal.
She is survived by her children; R. Dean Titensor, Australia Adelaide Mission, Verna T. Lee, Star Valley Care Center, Marilyn Heiner, ElRay Titensor, Luana Kennington, Ellen Hale and Julia Neuenschwander, one sister, Marie Heaton, Provo, UT, 40 grandchildren, 132 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Roscoe, her parents, one grandchild and five great great grandchildren,
