A lifelong resident of Liberty County, he worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Barber of Bristol; two daughters, Barbara Ann Lewis of Keithville, La., and Valerie K. Nelson of Holly; two brothers, Gerald Barber and Charles Barber, both of Bristol; four sisters, Elizabeth Barber, Wanda Harpley, Linda L. Barber and Ann Brinkley, all of Bristol; and four grandchildren.
