Steve “Big A” Appling, age 51, passed away Friday, May 22, 2020, at his home in Gas, Kansas.

Steve was born October 22, 1968 to Jim and Clara Appling in Iola, Kansas. He attended school in Iola, Kansas. Steve spent the majority of his working career working for the City of Iola. In 1991, Steve married Jayme Potter Appling.

Steve was an avid hunter, fisherman, and storyteller. In his spare time, you could find him outdoors. If you knew Steve, you loved him. He was always the life of the party. He spent his days living them to the fullest. Steve loved all kids and took them in as his own. He was known for cooking enough for an army and invited anyone to join him. He had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone. Steve genuinely loved life and never took a single moment for granted.

Steve is preceded in death by wife, Jayme Appling; mother, Clara Appling; and in-laws, James and Beverly Potter.
