Marshville - Mr. Charles E. Helms, 78, was met by His Lord and Savior on May 21, 2020 at Hospice House in Monroe. He was born on March 20, 1942 in Anson county. He was the son of the late Terry and Kate Meggs Helms. Charles graduated from Anson High School. He worked at MaLeck Woodworks and retired as an accountant at NC Department of Transportation, Polkton, NC. Charles was a member of New Home Baptist Church in Peachland where he very seldom missed Sunday morning worship services. He loved his church family and always brought a smile to your face. He was such a caring person and a friend to everyone. He enjoyed collecting miniature John Deere tractor and equipment. In earlier years, he traveled to see collectors and exhibits. Charles is known for his keen memory of times and events. He seemed to remember the time, day, date and the details of almost everything. He lived a simple, country life at his home place with his brother. Charles has touched many lives by his independent life. Charles always checked up on everyone sick and his close friends daily. He had a deep faith in God and thanked him for taking care of him. His favorite verse he lived by was, “ I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me.” Philippians 4:13. His family and friends will miss him, but cherish the time with him.
His message to all his friends was to let everyone know he loved and appreciated you. Thank you for being my friend and loving me. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses that cared for me. He ask that you feel free to come to his viewing and funeral in jeans or casual clothes. I say Good-By for now. I’ll be standing, waiting on you at Heaven’s gate.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday from the chapel of Morgan & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4-6 at the funeral home. Burial will be private. If you are attending, please practice your comfort level of social distancing.
