Mrs. Buena V. Abrams died at her home in this place August 1, 1904, after a brief illness of fatty degeneration of the heart. She was born in Louisa county, Iowa, September 15, 1867, and was in her thirty-seventh year at the time of her death. She had been failing in health for a year or more, and was subject to severe attacks of illness, but would soon be around again looking after her household duties and as she was very uncomplaining, no one thought of her being in a dangerous condition until Monday morning and about 4 o’clock in the afternoon she breathed her last. She was visiting friends in Muscatine the fourth of July and was taken ill there and had not been very well since, though on Friday she was able to be out in the yard and was looking after her chickens.

Monday noon she was told that she was very ill and that if she had anything to say to her friends it would be well for her to do it. She at once accepted the fact that her life was near its close and made all arrangements accordingly. She divided her personal possessions among her dear ones and talked to each one, expressed her willingness to go and talked in a clear strong voice for about an hour, bidding each one goodbye at the last and almost immediately became unconscious and remained so until the end.

She was of a bright and cheerful disposition and made friends of those with whom she was associated.
She was married to Frank Abrams April 20, 1893, and has been a faithful and devoted wife, very much attached to her home which she always kept beautifully.

She was the only child of J. M. Dotson of this place. Her mother died when she was three months old, but her step mother gave her the tenderest care and devotion, she being the only child in the family. The whole family including Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Dotson's mother, are deeply bereaved and have the earnest and heartfelt sympathy of all their friends.

The funeral was held at her late home on Tuesday afternoon, August 2, and was very largely attended, the services being conducted by Rev. Kendrick of the Methodist church.

The pall bearers were Messrs, Elmer Meeker, Clinton Kauffman, Ben Baker, Dr. John Hubbard, Wyatt Sprague and A. J. Schmoker and the interment was in the Columbus City cemetery.buried under her maiden name
