Laurence Ray Buckland, 66, of Rexburg, a retired Madison County employee, died February 18, 1995, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls following a lingering illness.

He was born May 15, 1928, at Sunnydell to Ross Taylor and Mary Ellen Stacey Buckland. After receiving his early education in Sunnydell, he graduated from Madison High School. He married Eva Gay Dayley at Rexburg and they were later divorced.

On October 16, 1970, he married Joan Youngstrom at Archer-Sunnydell. He farmed and ranched in Sunnydell, worked for the Madison County Road and Bridge, and then worked for the Idaho Department of Highways as an equipment operator for 20 years before retirement.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and leatherwork.

Survivors include his wife of Rexburg; children, Mrs. Doug (Nancy) Hopwood of Twin Falls, Pam Reese of Boise, Danny Ray Buckland of Twin Falls, and Larry Buckland of San Diego; stepchildren, Mrs. Bruce (Cyndy) Morgan of Idaho Falls, Mrs. Steve (Teresa) Jones, Mrs. Nick (Tammy) Lazzarotto and Kerry Jones, all of Rigby, Val Jones of Boise, and Kevin Jones of Rexburg; his mother of Rigby; a sister and a brother, Mrs. Dean (Della) Holverson of Idaho Falls, and
Steve Buckland of Menan; 37 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a granddaughter.

Funeral service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Sunnydell LDS Ward in Archer with Bishop Tom Leman officiating. Burial will be in Sutton Cemetery in Archer.
