He was born May 25, 1900 in Dykes, Kentucky, a son of John Logan and Rebecca Jane Ledbetter Dykes. He married Cora Garrison Oct. 21, 1917 in Mount Victory, Kentucky. She died June 6, 1987. One son, one brother and three sisters also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Lawrence Dykes and J.C. Dykes; two daughters, Audrey E. Hughes and Earleen Woods; one brother, Charlie Dykes; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
He had owned the Dykes Saw Mill and Lumber Yard in Bellflower and also a mill in Pulaski County, Kentucky. He also had been a painter.
He was a member of the Kentucky Colonels.
