Oliver was the son of Oliver and Permelia Warren Hale, born in Tompkins, Delaware Co., NY. He married Susanna Bradt 26 Feb 1826 in Tompkins, Delaware Co., NY. Oliver and his family came to Boone Co., Il by Ox and wagon, 1 Oct 1836 and purchased a claim of 400 acres in south Bonus Twp. and build a double log cabin. They were among some of the first to settle in Boone Co., Il
