Clara Anna Brown-Hancock, 75, died of natural causes July 2, 2006 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, [Oklahoma].

Clara was a loving wife and mother of five. She was the second child of 11 raised in Kellyville, [Oklahoma].

Clara was a gifted local talent whose face graced the stages throughout our community. A gifted vocalist, lyricist and composer, Clara was a natural and inspired entertainer.

Clara often dreamed of traveling the world. She realized her dream as a young wife and mother when her husband, Harold Hancock, dedicated his life to a military career.

Clara devoted her life to raising her children and promoted her husband through various assignments around the world. Clara's innate abilities to adapt to cultural differences enabled her to excel in meeting her family's needs while developing a respect for the human experience.

With the Brown family humor and dignity, she embraced the rich diversity of international friendship while maintaining close family bonds. Her passion for history and fierce devotion to close family relations instilled a deep, abiding pride in those of us around her as she blessed our lives. Untold numbers will benefit for all time to come for her final selfless gift to the world. We will all miss this beautiful and courageous woman.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Jewell Brown; sister, Mary Taylor; and brother, Andrew Brown.

She is survived by
- her husband of over 50 years, Harold J. Hancock of Sapulpa;
- her children: Suzy Ann Arnold and her husband, Curtis of Norfolk, Va., Janice York and her husband, Anthony of Inola, [Oklahoma], Sherry Kelly and her husband, Don of Mesa, Az., James Hancock and his wife, Judy of Tulsa, [Oklahoma], and Debra Chandler and her husband, Thomas of Sapulpa, [Oklahoma];
- brothers and sisters: Eva King of Bristow, [Oklahoma], Bonnie Bruton and her husband, Harold of Sapulpa, Ralph Brown and his wife, Barbara of Sapulpa, Ollie Brown and his wife, Wanda of Sapulpa, Delbert Brown and his wife, Jackie of Sapulpa, Clarence Brown and his wife, Clara of Sapulpa.

She is also survived by her grandchildren:
- Christina Hammons of Tallahassee, Fla., Lisa Crocker of Norfolk, Va., Daniel Hughes and his wife, Shelly of Skiatook, [Oklahoma], Shannon Jeffers and his husband, Chris of Tulsa, Robert Night of Tulsa, Randy Night of Stillwater, [Oklahoma], Tracy Jordan of Florida, Julie Knisel of Blanchard, [Oklahoma], Jay Hancock and his wife, Jennifer of Mannford, [Oklahoma], James Ernie Hancock and his wife, Tracy of Pryor, [Oklahoma], Amy Keeling of Sapulpa, Candy Addams of Tulsa, Christopher Hancock of Sapulpa, Phillip White of Sapulpa, Justin White of Sapulpa, Erica Kelly of Mesa, Az., and Naomi Kelly of Mesa, Az.;

A remembrance service will be held at 10 am Friday, July 7, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Sapulpa, 200 S. Elm St. with the Rev. Darrold Bruton officiating. A reception will follow. [Burial was done in Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.]
