KLOK-Hazel Durham, age 93, passed away of natural causes in Portland, Ore., on November 3, 2005. Mrs. Klok was the widow of Dr. George J. Klok a well-known pediatrician in Council Bluffs. She was the daughter of Charles L. and Laura J. Durham of Hamburg, Ark. She graduated from Hamburg High School and received her nursing degree at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. After their marriage in 1939, Dr. and Mrs. Klok moved to Council Bluffs where they resided for sixty years. Mrs. Klok was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church and the PEO Sisterhood Chapter FK for 50 years, serving as President from 1951-1953, as well as a Service League Alumna. She was a former member of the Pioneer Garden Club and volunteered at Jennie Edmundson Hospital, and the Council Bluffs Public Library. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Phyllis Stone and Marjorie Shugart, and by her brothers Glenn, John, Tom and Robert. Survivors include her daughters, Kathryn Miller of Woodland, Wash., Karen Anderegg and her husband William Rutherford of Portland, Ore.; as well as her sisters Laura Durham of Hamburg, Ark., Sarah Schwartz of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; grandson F. Jackson Lewis; granddaughter Margit Anderegg and their families.
Visitation with the family Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. A PEO Service will be held by Chapter FK at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be Friday, November 11, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Broadway United Methodist Church, 11 South First St. at Broadway, Council Bluffs, Rev. Marvin D. Arnpriester, Pastor, officiating. Private burial to follow service at Memorial Park Cemetery, Council Bluffs.
