"He was born in Lockport and married twice, but did not live with either of his wives and did not have a divorce from either of them. He tried to kill himself by taking paris green while living in Somerset about two years ago, but physicians saved his life." (Dec. 22, 1905, The Buffalo Courier, NY)

"Albert A. Alger died Thursday morning at the home of his father, William Alger in Batavia, as the result of taking a dose of laudanum, probably with suicidal intent. The only known reason for the act is that he was In trouble financially. Alger was 31 years old and formerly lived in Lockporf. He had latterly been working on a farm cutting wood, he is survived by his parents and a wife, from whom he was separated. He is also survived by four brothers, William H., Roy C., Ray E. and two sisters, Miss Pearl Alger and Mrs.Mary J. Sewar, all of Batavia." (Dec. 23, 1905, the Ithaca Daily News, NY)
