State Senator of California. Orestes Orr came to Ventura county in 1878- teaching school on the Avenue (Ventura Avenue). He was admitted to the bar in 1881 and was a member of the first law firm of Ventura County. He was elected District Attorney of Ventura County in 1884 and held the position for three terms. In 1892 he was elected to the state senate for the 35th District of California (Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties). While in senate he chaired the Roads & Highway Committee and later the Senate Committee on Corporations.
