Mary was born in RimaSombat, Hungary.
She is my GreatGreatGrandmother, but I do not know much about her. She had 3 daughters, Anna, Theresa, and Julia and a son, John. It seems she was married several times; but that is unclear. When Mary came to the US, she was already a widow.
She came with her daughters, and 3 grandchildren. Her son stayed behind. They lived in NYC and the family continued to grow. Several of the men worked in the breweries in NYC, while the women worked as housekeepers, gardners, or in factories.
Mary, herself, worked as a housekeeper.
I was always brought up how important family is; and marvel at all the photos taken, the portrait shots, the commemoration of religious events, the group shots.
And wonder how did they pay for the photos, as well as the dress clothes.
But I am glad they did.
To be continued when I learn more.
