Second marriage to Hannah Smith of Hollis on November 25, 1780Abijah married Hannah Smith in January, 1781 in Hollis (Hillsborough County) New Hampshire. The couple would have 4 daughters and one son.

According to the Genealogy of the Child, Childs, and Childe Families from the North American Family Histories (1500-2000), pg. 525-526, Abijah Hildreth was "a revolutionary soldier who was wounded in the battle of Bunker's Hill (fought on June 17, 1775) and preserved from capture by the British through the fidelity of a brave comrade who lifted him on his back and bore him from the battlefield when the Americans retreated."He was a soldier of the Revolution from Townsend where he served 7 different enlistments over a period of 28 months. He was granted a pension for his service of $80 per annum by the Pension Board, 14 Dec. 1832.

From the source "U.S. Revolutionary War Rolls (1775-1783)", Abijah Hildreth, a resident of Townsend (Middlesex County) Massachusetts, was a member of Captain Aaron Jewett's Company in Col. Samuel Bullard's Regiment in 1777.

Abijah and his family were listed in the first United States Census in 1790. They were then living in Townsend (Middlesex County) Massachusetts. In 1820, Abijah was listed in Westford (Middlesex) Massachusetts and in 1830 he was listed in Henniker (Merrimack County) New Hampshire
