GALENA. Kan. — Alvie E. "Pete” Clark, 75, Galena route 1, north of Riverton, died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home.
Mr. Clark was born May 18, 1916, in Newton County, Mo. He had lived in the Galena area all of his life. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the 635th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He served in the Army from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of Keith Reeves American Legion Post No. 3, Columbus.
He married Adelia Bradford on June 30, 1943, at Pittsburg. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Edward Brad Clark, Galena route 1; two daughters, Cathy Thompson, Coffeyville, and Anita Beth Singleton, Hornet community, south of Joplin; 8 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Derfelt Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Banman and the Rev. Audie Tash will officiate. Roy L. Derfelt will deliver the eulogy.
The Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Burial Detail will conduct full military graveside rites at Messer Cemetery, north of Galena.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
