Funeral of John Bailey, Crestline Held Sunday
Crestline, Feb 8, 1932...friends and relatives attended ....2:30 yesterday afternoon the funeral services of John Daniel Bailey, 75(note, the age above said 76), at the Christian church here. Rev. Miles Cook of Galena was in charge. A male quartet sang two selections. The I.O.O.F. lodge held short services at the grave.
Mr. Bailey, a resident of Cherokee County for more than half a century, died at 12:45 O'Clock Saturday morning at his home here following an illness of one year.
Born in Douglas County, Kansas Feb 1 1857, Mr. Bailey, came to this county soon after the Civil War, settling first near Galena, where he lived for twenty years. For the past 30 years he had lived in and near Crestline.
Although he never held public office, except that of member of the high school board, he was actively identified with politics in this district. He was a member of the board in 1922 and 1923. A membership was held in the Crestline I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 147.
Survivors are four sons Geo., Bert, James and Don, all of this community, and four daughters, Mrs. Joe Angien of the Quaker district, Mrs. Mike Flannagan, Mrs. John Sears and Miss Zelma Bailey, all of Crestline.

Funeral For Bailey is Held at Crestline
Crestline, Kan., Feb 8- Funeral services were held yesterday afteroon at the Christian church son John Daniel Bailey, 75 years old, who died Saturday morning at his home following a year's illness. The Rev. Miles Cook of Galena officiated. Burial was in Messer cemetery.
Mr. Bailey was born February 1, 1857, in Douglas county, Kansas. He had been a resident of this district most of his life. He was a member of the high school board in 1922 and 1923, and was a member of the Crestline, I.O.O.F. Lodge.
Surviving are four sons George Bailey, Bert Bailey, James Bailey and Don Bailey, and four daughters, Mrs. Joe Angien of the Quaker district, Mrs Mike Flanagan, Mrs. John Sears and Miss Zelma Bailey all of Crestline.
