Luther grew up loving the land and enjoyed farming his entire life. He attended grade school in Kenneth and graduated in 1953 from Augustana Academy in Canton, SD. After attending Augustana College in Sioux Falls, he graduated from South Dakota State University in agricultural education and completed his Master's Degree at the University of Minnesota.
