I, J. Wathen, manager of this memorial, am the 2nd great-grandniece of Mary. Her sister, Margaret Alice (Stewart) McMaster, is my 2nd great-grandmother.

Mary Jane Stewart was born in Wapello County, Iowa, Dec. 6, 1868, and was married to John Cooper, Nov. 23, 1887, in Fairfield, Iowa. She died May 23, 1900 at her home near Clarks, Nebr. She leaves a husband and one son to mourn her loss. When about 15 years old she was converted and joined the M. E. church at Brookville, Iowa, and at the time of her death she realized the preciousness of God's promises. Services were conducted by Rev. G. B. Warren, pastor of M. E. church at Clarks, at the house at 2 P.M. May 24. The interment took place at the Bureau cemetery.
