Joe Rutland, 82, Cherokee, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000. Visitation will be
6-9 p.m. today at Morrison Funeral Home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Morrison Funeral
Home, with the Rev. Odell Snow officiating. Burial will be in Barton
Cemetery. Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee, is directing.

Mr. Rutland was a native of Cherokee and a veteran of World War II. He
was a retired metal worker from Reynolds Metals and a member of
Westside Baptist Church, Tuscumbia. Survivors include son, Joe
Rutland Jr., Cherokee; daughter, Janis L. Adams, Trussville; stepson,
Wade Maroney; stepdaughters, Betty Dugan and Cindy Maroney;
grandchildren, Joseph Edward Rutland, Jennifer Lee Rutland and
Zachary Adams. Pallbearers are Bobby Carson, Ted Dill, Jerry Inman,
John Pugh, Gerry Thomas and David Rutland. Honorary pallbearers are
Darryl Wallace and Gene Rutland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made to Westside Baptist Church, 411 W. 11th St., Tuscumbia
