We are saddened by the passing of David on June 15, 2017. Born in Rosetown on December 3, 1961, David took all his schooling here, then went on to the U of S where he graduated with Distinction with an Advanced B.A. majoring in History and English. He had been accepted into the Master of Library Science Program at the U of A when a diagnosis of Schizophrenia "Youth's Greatest Disabler" changed all his plans. After a struggle of many years, he was admitted to Sask. Hospital in North Battleford where he spent twenty-two years. With declining health and mobility, he was transferred to hospital in Saskatoon then Rosetown Hospital Palliative Care where he died.

Dave enjoyed music, movies, game boards, cards, rooting for the Roughriders, excursions, shopping, eating out and ordering in. Many small things enriched his life. He was always in demand as a team member for Trivial Pursuit. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his sense of humour and ability to laugh – even at himself.

David's life was not an easy one. His journey led him down many different and difficult paths. He had a loving family of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends made in his years at Sask. Hospital – where he found his place of comfort..

A celebration of David's life took place in Rosetown United Church on June 19th with Mr. Jim MacNaughton officiating, eulogy by Susan and Derek Rogers, organist Brenda Hamilton and soloist Carmen Ledding. After a social gathering, a private family interment took place in the Roselawn Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to AMGITS (Stigma), Box 39, North Battleford, Sask. S9A 2X8 or to a charity of choice.

Special thanks to doctors, nurses and staff of Sask. Hospital, Saskatoon and Rosetown hospitals for care of our David over these many years.  Also to Pierre of Shanidar Funeral Services.
