Nellie Lee Ethridge Powell, 79, the widow of Ernest Wilson Powell, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, May 4, 2020, at her residence.

Mrs. Powell was born the daughter of Liston Harvey Ethridge and Lorena Long Ethridge on January 28, 194,1 in Andrews.

She was an employee of Moore Knits and Powell Knitting. She was a former member of Andrews First Baptist Church and a current member of Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church. Her greatest enjoyment was being "Nanny" to her grandkids, nieces, and nephews. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished Nanny, caring sister, and a loyal friend.

She is survived by three children, Kimberly Lee "Kimmie" Powell Whitmire, Karen M. Powell, and Wilson Travis Powel (Casey); five grandchildren, Billy Whitmire Jr., Mindy Whitmire, Cody Powell, Hailey Powell, and Owen Powell; and a great-granddaughter, Ally Powell. She is also survived by two brothers, Vernon Ethridge (Bonnie) and David "Bubba" Ethridge (Linda); and a sister-in-law, Eloise Ethridge.

She is predeceased by her parents; her husband; a son, Steven Ernest "Stevie" Powell; a great-granddaughter, Grace Powell; and her siblings, Bobby Joe Ethridge (Brenda) and Harvey Ethridge.

A Home Going Celebration will be 2 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be Rev. Allen Ard and Rev. Timothy McKenzie. Interment will follow in the church cemetery directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

The Powell family will receive family and friends immediately after the service.
