Lois J. (Ruffer) Travis, 88, Anderson, died Aug. 15, 2007, at Vermillion Place after a brief illness.

She was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, and resided in Anderson since 1952.

She was a homemaker. She served in the U.S. Navy Waves as a registered nurse during World War II and was an officer in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps. She received a Commendation Ribbon (Nursing aboard USS Solace) Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, American Theatre Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Pamela and Calvin Teeter, Cynthia and David Stephens and Debra Jarvis, all of Anderson; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Lucille Murphy of Vista, Calif., Lillian Walter of Rochester, Mary and Norm Hesterman of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Betty Mansfield of Defiance, Ohio, and Freda Ruffer of Wauseon, Ohio; a granddaughter, Alyssa Jarvis and fiancé Tommy Dennis; a great-granddaughter, Amber Fording; two stepgranddaughters and spouses, Cindy and Tony Mills, and Sandi and Tom Karr; four stepgreat-grandsons, Dustin Mills, Josh Mills, Richie White and Ryan White; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Maletta (Schlueter) Ruffer; husband, James C. Travis, on Sept. 10, 1990; and a brother, Donnell Ruffer.

Services will be conducted at noon Saturday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. Matthew Manning of St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour before service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or United Faith Housing.
