Dr. Gene Virginia Campbell 74, of Little Rock, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2005.

Dr. Campbell was born January 6, 1931 to the late Harry L. Campbell, Sr, and Mary Margaret Grieser Campbell in Norfolk, Virginia.

Dr. Campbell graduated from Beaumont High School in Beaumont, Texas. She received her Doctor of Education Degree from the University of Houston, Master of Arts Degree from George Peabody College for Teachers, Bachelor of Arts from University of Southwestern Louisiana, and Post-Graduate Study at Lamar University, University of Southwestern Louisiana Stanford University, National Graduate University, University of Texas, Austin and George Mason University.

Dr. Campbell belonged to several professional organizations, which she was active. She published several papers on education.

Dr. Campbell retired as Dean College of Education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She held the position as Dean Emerita at McNeese State University, and Supervised Teacher at University of Southwestern Louisiana.

Survived by brother Harry L. Campbell, Jr, and his wife Mizuko Ueda Campbell of Houston, Texas, nephews Michael Campbell and Harry L. Campbell III and niece Kobena Campbell of Houston, Texas.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.

Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church under the direction of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home (224-8300)

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Dr. Campbell to a scholarship fund at UALR.

Gene was also survived by several cousins
