DAVID WELDON BARDWELL
Funeral services for David Weldon Bardwell, 93, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2007 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Gregory Ayers and Rev. Ron Kelley officiating.
Burial is in Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 17, 2007, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Mr. Bardwell was born Jan. 16, 1914 in Nolan and married Berta Lea Roy. He later married Mattie Larue Scott on June 1, 1946 in Sweetwater.
He was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater and a graduate of Sweetwater High School in 1931. He was a member of the Highland Heights United Methodist Church. He retired after six years as the Nolan County Tax Assessor-Collector and became the manager of the Nolan County Coliseum, retiring after 17 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lou Barela of Sweetwater; two brothers, James A. Bardwell of Wichita Falls and Leland Bardwell of Sweetwater; three grandchildren, Alan Bardwell of Virginia, David Barela of California and Mary Elizabeth Barela of Sweetwater; one great-granddaughter, Natalie Barela of Sweetwater; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Wesley Bardwell; one sister, Della Clark; his father and mother, David A. and Hazel Flynn Bardwell; his first wife, Berta Lea Bardwell; and his second wife, Mattie Larue Bardwell.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Taylor, Rusty Allen, Melvin Walker, Lefty Howell, Don Hatter and Scott Carr.
