Ella was one of several daughters and sons of William Josiah "Joe" Burns (1852 - 1901), a native of Alabama and Nancy Isabella "Isabella" "Ponie" Evans (1855 - 1922), a native of Texas. She married Julius Brett Moody in Leon County between 1900 and 1903. She and Julius had five children: Cecil Elmer, Vivian Raye, Hazel, Vera, and Warren Debs. According to her death certificate Ella died of a cerebral hemorrhage in Snyder on 29 May 1912.
