Daughter of Frank Switalski and Sabina Jaruzel. Married to Stanley John Dreffs 2 October 1937. Obit: Veronica M. Dreffs, 97, of Gaylord, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 27, 1908 in Gaylord to Frank and Sabina (Jaruzel) Switalski. Veronica was raised in Gaylord and later lived in Taylor for many years before moving back to Gaylord in 1973. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral Parish and the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed sewing quilts and knitting. For many years she knitted mittens for the children at St. Mary School. Veronica was also an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing. On Oct. 2, 1937 she married Stanley Dreffs at St. Mary Church in Gaylord. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1983. She is survived by a son, Rodney (Mary Jo) Dreffs of South Lyon; daughters, Patricia (Ray) Zawacki of Rose City and Agatha (William) Graney of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Neil (Bethany) Dreffs, David Zawacki, Brandon Dreffs and Veronica (Andy) Thelen; sisters, Martha Mitchell, Julia Prusakiewicz and Lucille Dombrowski; and brothers, John, Francis, Stanley and Roman Switalski. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Jozwiak and Martha Mitchell, and brothers, Walter, Julian, Ted, Casimir and Ed Switalski. Visitation will be held at the Nelson Funeral Home today (Saturday, Nov. 25) from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. The St. Mary Altar Rosary Society will offer a rosary on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27 from St. Mary Cathedral where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
