Louise was the daughter of Henry Block and Louisa Kortgartner. Her mother died when she was 18 days old. She lived with her Grandmother Sophia Krammer Block in Ripley Co, IN until her father remarried in 1874. She then went to live with him and his wife Dena Stekhahn in Cario, Alexander Co, IL.
Louise was an avid letter writer and it is from old letters saved by her aunt and uncle that we have been able to piece a lot of the family together.
