The family of Richard Dix Arant of Wolfforth will celebrate 71 years of his life at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Ropesville Cemetery under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
Mr. Arant died Tuesday, Dec.7, 2004. Richard Dix Arant was born March 16, 1933 in Lubbock to Lloyd K. and Mattie Mae Tapp Arant. He graduated from Ropesville High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Delma LaVoy Strickland. The two were married June 27, 1954 in Ropesville. Richard farmed in Hockley County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ropesville.
Survivors include his children, Billy Dix Arant (Dicki)and his wife Donna, and Deborah Gay Hundley and her husband Robert; grandchildren, Cody, Chance and Clayton Hundley, and Stefanie Lewis-Smith; his sister, Doris Jackson; several nieces and nephews, Juanita Carmichael, Ronnie and Donnie Jonas, Ruyal Don Arant, and Tege (Arant) Taylor. His brother, Harold Arant, of Levelland precedes him in death.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to the Ronald McDonald House, 1212 Indiana Avenue, Lubbock, Texas 79415.
