Catherine Theresa Gratzick Bailey, 80, of Charleston, the widow of Whitmarsh Seabrook Bailey, whom was the love of her life for 60 years, entered into eternal rest of Tuesday, August 14, 2007. Mrs. Bailey was born in Charleston, a daughter of Joseph James Gratzick and Bertha Josephine Diers Gratzick on Monday, January 17, 1927. A graduate of Bishop England High School, she later became and retired from Woolworth's Department Store as a Supervisor. She was an avid gardener who won yard of the month several times. Mrs. Bailey will always be known as the caregiver to everyone, a yard sale enthusiast and the Bingo Queen. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her grandchildren. Mrs. Bailey is survived by two daughters, Karen B. McDonald and her husband Craig, Marsha B. Wood and her husband John; a son, Whit S. Bailey and his wife Denise; a sister, Valeria G. Bivens; a brother, Kenny C. Gratzick; grandchildren, Alex McDonald, Lauren Wold; a great grandchild, Nick Bailey and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Whitmarsh S. Bailey; a daughter, Connie Bailey; a grandson, Matthew B. McDonald; two brothers, Joseph and Harold Gratzick and a sister, Dorothy Griffin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, this evening, August 16, 2007 at James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The relatives and friends of Catherine Theresa Gratzick Bailey are invited to attend he Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 17, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1659 Wallenberg Blvd. The Rite of Committal will be held in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations made to either the Alzheimer's Association, Palmetto Chapter, PO Box 7044 Columbia, SC 29202-7044 or the American Heart Association, PO Box 5216 Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
