Ms. Glenda Sue Barton Swann ,age 69, of Rome, passed away on Thursday October 13, 2011 in a local health care facility.
Ms. Swann was born in Floyd County on July 23, 1942; the daughter of the late Edgar Louis Barton and Gaynelle Sharp Barton. She grew up as a “Celanese Kid”, starting at age 12; she began playing the piano for Riverside Baptist Church where she is a member. After receiving her B.S. Degree in English from Shorter College she served the Floyd County School System as a teacher at Garden Lakes Elementary School as a teacher. She retired after three years to stay at home and take care of her family. Ms. Swann is preceded in death by two brothers, Rueben and Donald Barton.
Survivors include one daughter, Courtney Leigh Duncan (James), one son, Barton Swann (Tracy), five grandchildren, Murphi Swann Aszman (Michael), Treyton Swann, Sabrina Rose Duncan, Barbara Sue Duncan and Lucas Wayne Duncan; all of Rome, one brother Kenneth Barton (Carol); Dunwoody, Georgia, and all of her friends at 5th Avenue Health Care Facility.
Visitation will be held on Saturday October 15, 2011 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Floral Arrangements will be accepted. At other times the family may be located at their respective residents.
