James A. McKinney, widely known throughout this section, died at his home in Hensheytown, yesterday morning at 5.05 o'clock from a complication of diseases. He was born a East Altoona, March 22, 1828, and was the son of William and Margaret McKinney, deceased, being aged at death, 88 years, 4 months and 22 days. Mr. McKinney was wedded to Miss Margaret Black on December 25, 1853, she preceding him to the grave October 3, 1908. He was a veteran of the Civil war, and was of a quiet and unassuming nature, possessed of a very kindly disposition and will be sorely missed by those who survive to mourn his passing. Deceased is survived by two sons, John, of Bellwood, and Harry E., of Newall, W. Va., two daughters, Mrs. W.J. Miller, of State College, and Mrs. Samuel Gates, of our borough, one step-daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Snyder, of Blandsburg, one brother, Henry, of Bridgeville, Del., and the following sisters: Mrs. Angeline Bowers, who resides here; Mrs. Emma Moyer, of Pinecroft; Mrs. Elizabeth Baker, of Sinking valley; Mrs. Sarah Ritz, of Hollidaysburg, and Mrs. Ruth P. Tranel, of Dungarven.
