John Alfred Chadwick
February 1, 1967 ~ March 22, 2020

Our beloved brother, son and uncle John Alfred Chadwick died suddenly on Sunday, March 22, 2020 from a massive heart attack while at home with his dad and brothers in Ogden, Utah. He had just celebrated his 53rd birthday in February.

John was born on February 1st, 1967 in Ogden, Utah; the first child of John Dick Chadwick and Mary Ellen Forbes. He was quickly joined by three siblings, Blaine, DeEllen and Gordon. The four were always found outside jumping out of trees, exploring the nearby hollows, ‘stealthily’ fishing under bridges, or dodging flying dirt clods when they were supposed to be weeding the garden. Johnny was a good son and older brother, always happy and helpful and beaming with his signature half-smile. He loved anything to do with animals, all kinds of books, and serving in his church. After graduating from Ogden High School in 1985 he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Washington DC North mission from 1986-88. He loved the scriptures and had an abiding testimony of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. John was living with the family in Ogden, Utah in 1990 when his mother, Mary Ellen Forbes, passed away from breast cancer at the age of 44.

After the death of his grandfather Fred Hamnett Forbes of Alpine, Utah in 1992, John moved in with and took care of his grandmother Inez Peacock Forbes until her death in 2010. John loved road trips of any kind, whether traveling on long trips with grandma Forbes or simply taking a Sunday drive with his dad and brothers, John loved to be on the road with his family and bag of Doritos.

After the death of his grandma he continued to live with his brother Gordon in American Fork, Utah for a few years until moving back to Ogden to live with his dad and brother in 2017. John was employed by FedEx at the time of his death.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen Forbes Chadwick. He is survived by his father John Dick Chadwick and his brothers Blaine F. and Gordon B. Chadwick of Ogden, Utah, his sister DeEllen (Craig) Bounous of Happy Valley, Oregon and their children, Abigail and Thomas who will miss the comfort of uncle John telling them what will happen next in the movie.

We love and miss you Johnny.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic there will not be a funeral at this time, only a graveside meeting of Johnny’s siblings and dad. A memorial service will be held for extended family and friends at a later date.
