Born November 12, 1923, in Richwoods, Missouri, James passed away peacefully at home in Petaluma, California, Thursday morning, September 27, 2007.
He was the devoted husband of the late Lucille Calvert. Jim is survived by his loving and dedicated daughters Janice Calvert Tucker and her husband Scott of Penngrove, California, and Lynne Calvert and her partner Trina Lacey of Santa Rosa, California. He was the proud grandfather of Deborah Mitchell of Largo, Florida, Michelle Ross and husband Andy of Rohnert Park, California, and Sheryl Vicharelli and husband John of Mooresville, North Carolina. He leaves eight great grandchildren, Sierra Mitchell, Martin and Cavin Hawkins, Lucille and Daniel Ross and Dante, Dominic and Andre Vicharelli. He is the brother of Avelle Calvert of Orick, California, and Alfred Calvert of Woodland, California. Jim was preceded in death by brothers, Alex, Ben, William and Paul Calvert; and sisters, Marie Anderson, Thelma Zunino, Edith Hall and Gladys Krey. He leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim operated his own logging truck company in Orick for over 40 years. He and Lucille moved to Eureka and spent 14 years enjoying their retirement. In 2003 he lost Lucille and moved to Petaluma to be closer to his daughters.
Services will be held at Pierce Mortuary Chapel, 707 H Street, Eureka, on Friday October 5, 2007, at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will follow immediately at Ocean View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are under the care of Pierce Mortuary, Eureka, CA.
