She was born May 22 1913 in Slinger, Wisconsin, to Emil Zimmerman and Katherine Becker and spent her childhood growing up there with her 14 other siblings.
She married Karl Fickler on 28 May 1932, and she spent most of her married life living in Fillmore, Wisconsin. She tended to a large garden, canned foods, and did lots of cooking and baking. In 1999 she moved from Fillmore to Aloha, Oregon, to be closer to her daughter and family.
