Mrs. Irene N. Desch, 87, 1017 N. Taylor, died Monday, April 1, at a Topeka hospital. She was born Jan. 30, 1898 at Colby. Mrs. Desch was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the St. Anthony's Guild and Altar Society at the church.
She was married to Jacob J. Desch Dec. 30, 1924 at Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Jacob J. Desch Jr., Silsbee, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Randolph, Mrs. Flora Reed and Mrs. Dorothy Allen, all of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Desch will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Brennan Funeral Home where rosaries will be recited by the parish at 6:30 p.m., Knights of Columbus Council No. 2608 at 7:30 p.m., and St. Anthony's Guild and Altar Society at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 227 Van Buren.
