Connie Jo (Anderson) Gehle, age 74, of Byron, NE passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020.

Connie was born on October 16, 1945 at Hays, KS to Wayne and Varee (Merrifield) Anderson. She was raised in the small rural town of Kirwin, KS where she attended High School and married her high school sweetheart and had three children (Robert, Candy, and John). Connie had a beautiful singing voice and managed to win a state championship during her stint at Kirwin High. She also had an unprecedented love for all living creatures. Some of her closest school classmates remember many makeshift funerals where Connie would hold funerals and sing hymns in the grain bins (because it sounded so cool in there) before burying some random animal. After high school she became a US Navy wife and traveled where her husband was stationed. She gave birth to her youngest son in Sasebo Japan and also lived in Morocco (Northern Africa). She capitalized on her singing talent and became the lead singer in a 60’s Rock Band called the “Exhiles” sporting bright RED hair. The grandkids loved hearing those adventures!

Connie had the most amazing creative kind soul. She loved to sketch, paint and write and was able to hold several careers that showcased her many talents. She was a beautician and hairdresser, florist and even hosted a writers group. She attended college classes as an adult, became an AA sponsor and eventually became a drug and alcohol counselor in Salina, KS. She also spent a few years as a real estate agent.

Connie met Jim (Myron) Gehle while working in Salina, KS and married on Christmas Eve in 1990 and moved out to a rural farm near Byron, NE under the condition SHE got to name the farm. (Jackazz Acres was born) which several stories of farm life were written about. For the next 30 years she was a farm wife being married to who she constantly referred to as her “soul mate”. She absolutely loved living on the farm and created a miniature petting zoo for all of her grandkids to enjoy as they grew into adulthood. She created a very loving and nurturing environment for all her grandkids which she loved dearly. She made sure they knew it was ok to be different and be who you were. There were so many fond memories in the “Buck-a-Roo” room. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. Connie loved going to auctions and finding that rare “great buy” for the antique shop she was planning on opening and running at JackAzz Acres!

When her kids began to come visit the farm she built (ok ….Jim built) a lighted star so her directionally challenged city kids could always find their way home (thanks mom).

Preceding her in death were her parents Wayne and Varee Anderson of Kirwin, KS. and step son Monte (wife Rita) of Chester, NE.

Survivors include her husband Jim (Myron) Gehle three children Robert Leffler, Candy Leffler, John Leffler and three step children Myron Gehle wife Becky, Mike Gehle wife Tammy, Misty Gehle significant other Paul. Nine grandkids – Amira and Andy Leffler (twins), Amanda Gehle, Brandon Gehle, Sonya Downing-Leffler, Matt and Tony Leffler (twins), Heather Gehle and Seth Gehle.

A graveside memorial service and inurnment will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 3:00 PM, Chester City Cemetery, Chester, Nebraska. The Reverend Robert Hopkins of St. John Lutheran Church will officiate. Price Funeral Home, Hebron, Nebraska is in charge of these arrangements. Condolences may be left at priceurbauerahrendts.com.
