Luckie Cherie Allen, age 85, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday, January 23, 2020. She spent her final days and hours surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Luckie was born July 23, 1934 to James and Phynetta Hurtt in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She attended Hazel Park High School where she met her husband-to-be Robert (Bob) Allen. The two were married in 1952. After relocating several times while Bob served in the U.S. Navy the couple returned to Michigan to grow their family. Bob settled into a role with Ford Motor Company and Luckie continued her career in the banking industry. In 1967 Bob was transferred by Philco-Ford to Southern California with Luckie and their four children Sheree, Robert, Stacey, and Milton ultimately residing in Anaheim, California. In California Luckie began a career with Barclays bank ultimately taking on the role of Senior Vice President of Data Processing for Southern California. She retired from banking in 1988. Once retired from Barclays she applied her energy and skills as an office manager for Dr. Gerald Brodie of Tustin, California. Luckie dedicated the majority of her free time to her beloved family. She cared for her parents who had moved to Southern California several years after the Allens, and doted on her grandchildren and her beloved pets. To know Luckie was to love her. She was a force; a woman before her time. She deeply believed in the value of family, hard work, a good trip to Hawaii and a glass of champagne. She loved watching golf and ice-skating. She was a true patriot who loved her country, and a sage mentor to her grandchildren. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved and adored her. She leaves a void in this world and shoes that cannot be filled. Luckie was preceded in death by her beloved grandson Jeremiah Daniel Douglass, her parents James and Phynetta, and her loving husband, Bob, of 47 years. She is survived by her children: Sheree Lynn Haddix and husband Jack Bowers of Venice; Robert James Allen of Temecula; Stacey Monaco and husband Joe of Waco, Texas; Milton George Allen and wife Lynne of Glendora. Her grandchildren: Rachel Cherie Douglass-Baker, Sarah Lynn Douglass, Stacey Ruth Douglass-Harris, Joshua Robert Douglass, James Benjamin Allen, and Grace Mackenzie Guilliams; her great-grandchildren, London Benjamin Baker, Emma Cherie Baker, Hazel Grace Henry. A memorial in her honor will be held at Anaheim Cemetery on February 1, 2020 at 12 noon, Anaheim, California. Coordinated by Hilgenfeld Mortuary also in Anaheim.
