Hugh R. Coy
Hugh R. Coy, 78, 520 S. Miller St., died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday at W.S. Major Hospital, where he had been a patient for one week.
Mr. Coy retired in 1964 from International Harvester, where he had been employed for 23 years. He had lived in Shelbyville for the past 21 years, and prior to that he was a resident of Fairland. He was a member of Town and Country Christian Church and an associate member of the F.O.P lodge.
Born in Johnson County June 14, 1904, he was a son of John and Lydia (Walters) Coy. He is survived by his wife, Ruth B. (Hoppes) Coy, whom he married March 24, 1961, in Shelbyville. He was previously married to Edelle Williams.
Also surviving are three sons, H. Robert Coy, Fairland, Duane Coy, Shelbyville, and Carroll Coy, R. R. 1, Waldron; two stepchildren, Jack Winkler, Franklin, and Judith Hendricks, Shelbyville; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ewing Mortuary, with the Revs. Danny Pelfrey and Porter Riner officiating. Burial will be in Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Friends may call at the mortuary after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
