Lucille Mary Shearer was born May 8, 1920 one of the 11 children (number eight) of Harry Milton and Mildred LuLu (Dann) Shearer on the family farm in rural Jackson, Minnesota. The farm would be lost during the depression according to Jean Shearer Whitcomb, the remaining sibling. The family moved throughout southern Minnesota, working on various farms, pulling onions, weeding, just any work to put food on the table and a roof over their heads. The younger siblings stayed in school. Jean recalled Lucille was always very good with "numbers" whereas she was good at writing. They remained in contact throughout the years, though Jean made her home in Oregon. I recall when I was little and Lucille and Roger lived at Grandma and Grandpa Shearer's. She worked nights at the bowling alley. She always washed her hair with Halo shampoo and wore gardenia powder and perfume. How I lived for those Halo bottles she saved for me. I know she greatly enjoyed her years at the V.F.W. It was during her time there and with the Auxiliary that she did some traveling. She could escape Sherburn to explore foreign lands and different cities. I learned she was a great travel guide on a car trip to California for her sister Ruth's funeral. Later she would work at the Cup N Saucer Café, she enjoyed people. In later years it became more and more difficult for her to walk because of legs stiffening up due to arthritis. This ended her working career. She still crossed the street to the Singles Monthly Meeting and Church. After her son Roger's death a year ago, she seemed to slow down even more. When it was time to do the annual cemetery run to decorate 13 graves she chose to stay in the car after we did her parents' and son's graves. It was that next day that she moved to Temperance Ridge. It was from there she went to be with family and the Lord, on Tuesday morning, February 17, 2015.

She is survived by her sister, Jean (Shearer) Whitcomb and three grandsons and their families; one granddaughter and her family, nine great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lucille was preceded in death by her two husbands, her son, Roger Clawson and grandson, Tony Clawson and other relatives.
