Walter J Oakes was Born to Mary Carney and James Oakes, who was a pharmacist. James died when Walter was only two, and his mother continued to run their drug store. She raised two sons, Albert who became a Doctor, and Walter who was trained as a pharmacist. Walter married Kathryn Teresa Reilly , and they had one son Walter David Oakes also buried in Byron Cemetery.Walter and the family moved to Ohio in 1947, when Walter accepted the position of Director of Health Education at Wright Patterson AFB.
