The son of Rudolph and Anna Keller Mayer, Joseph Victor Mayer, of 1943 Myrtle St, died Sunday, March 15, at home following a brief illness of Leukemia. He was 72. A lifelong resident of this city, Mr. Mayer was a hammersmith at the Keyser Valley Shops of the Lackawanna Railroad prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral and its Holy Name Society.

Surviving are his wife, the former Ann Willenhues; a daughter, Mrs. George Hoffman; three sons, Joseph, August and John Mayer, all of Scranton; four sisters; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
