Son of Thomas and Ann Robinson Halsey. Brother to Anslom Halsey (#210104452) - both served at Riker's Island.

William was a private in Company B, 20th US Colored Infantry. He was sent to Riker's Island as a nurse according to his enlistment papers on Fold3.

William was duped by a "bounty broker" who gave him fake money as his bounty before he was handed over to the guard. Full letter is in his Fold3 file retelling the tale of his enlistment.

The death date comes from the NYS Death Index and the probate filed by his brother Edward.
