Mr. Tidd was well-known in Olean where he was a member of the Forty-third Separate Company, now Company I during the Spanish American War under command of the late Major Richard H. Franchot, who was then captain of the contingent.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Reagan Tidd; one son, William, Jr. of Chicago; his mother, Mrs. William B. Tidd of Dayton, N.Y., formerly of Olean; two sisters, Mrs. Edward Canfield, Dayton, N.Y.; Mrs. George R. Feister, Dansville, N.Y.; and a brother, John D. Tidd, this city.
