William F. Arp for many years a well known and highly respected resident of Brunswick died at 10 o'clock Friday, September 18, 1936. His death was caused by heart trouble. He had not felt good for a couple of weeks but took worse Wednesday night. Mr. Arp was the oldest son of Henry and Marie Arp. He was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, April 4, 1859 and came to this country at the age of four. He first lived at Davenport, Iowa, a couple of years and them moved to Indian Grove where he lived till 1929 when he moved to Brunswick where he lived three years with his daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Fritz Henning where he died.
He was married to Miss Wiebke Catherine Timm, January 25, 1886 to whom he was devoted companion for 36 years. His wife died September 28, 1922. Four children were born to this union, the youngest Raymond died at the age of three. The three surviving children are Mrs. George Tietjens, Ernest Arp and Mrs. Fritz Henning. He also leaves nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Arp was a devout Christian man and a loving and devoted father and a helpful neighbor and friend. His death brings deep sorrow to hundreds of friends and neighbors in the community in which he lived for so many years.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday at 1:30 by Rev. W. J. Boehne, Pastor of the St. John Lutheran Church in the presence of a large number of sorrowing friends: Burial was in the German Cemetery northeast of Indian Grove.
