Lucious D. Stanfield, 84, went home to be with the Lord on April 9, 2020.

LD retired after 55 years of service with Huntington Ingalls Industries, Newport News. He served as a Deacon and was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church for 28 years.

Preceded in death by his only son Larry Stanfield.

Survived by his wife of 65 years Theresa L. Stanfield; daughters, Terri Howe, Debbie (Bobby) Price and Mona Deeds; 8 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A private visitation for the Family was held at W. J. Smith Funeral Home on April 13, 2020. A private graveside service was held on Tuesday at Parklawn Memorial Park.

Due to present circumstances there will be a celebration of Life with Family and Friends at a later date.LD is our son's father-in-law and grandpa of two of our precious grandchildren.

Son of Harry Smith Stanfield & Naomi Seay, grandson of Daniel Boone & Nannie Bell (Stephens) Stanfield and L. H. & Elma (Warren) Seay. Known siblings: Naomi Lee (Stanfield) Webb, Harry Eugene “Gene” Stanfield, Margaret Ann (Stanfield) Flynn.

Married 66 years to my dear friend and prayer partner of many years, Theresa.

LD has lived his life for the Lord Jesus Christ and reaching others that all might come to a saving knowledge of Him. Dedicated soul winner and a gentleman to the end.

A life well lived!

Words from his granddaughter, "My family lost a wonderful man last night. A man of God. The most trusting and giving man I ever knew. A man who came from hard times and created a better life and got his heart and soul right with God and was the epitome of someone who walked the right path. I didn’t get to say goodbye as I am on the other side of the world right now and I don’t get to grieve with my family or hold my mother while she cries. But I’ll be strong for them from over here. I’ll love and miss you forever Grandpa and I’m so happy you’re home now."
