OBITUARY
JOHN C. BIFFAR
John C. Biffar, 57, of Rock Valley, RD, Long Eddy, died on Friday, September 23, in the Binghamton City Hospital as a result of a heart attack. Mr. Biffar had been ill about three months and had entered the hospital a week previous to his death. Deceased was born in Goulds on September 30, 1892, a son of Charles and Nettie Biffar. On September 17th, 1919, he was married to Miss Marguerite Snyder. Most of his life was spent in the Rock Valley area where he was well known as a progressive farmer and for the last several years he operated a large cauliflower farm. He was also well known in Hancock where annually he sold a large amount of maple cream and syrup. At one time the family lived at Roscoe.
Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Orville Huopana of Binghamton and his mother, Mrs. Nettie Biffar, of Rock Valley.
Mr. Biffar was a trustee of the Rock Valley Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War I. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 26, at 2:00 p. m. at Henderson's Funeral Chapel in Hancock. Rev. John Swords of Long Eddy officiated. The remains were placed in a crypt in Point Mountain Mausoleum, Hancock. A delegation of American Legion Post 289 attended the services in a body. Casket bearers were John Milk, Milton Smith, Car Wagner, Lester Milk, John May, and Arlyn Milk.
